NRI Email Templates That Convert: 5 Examples
Five email templates you can adapt to your specific NRI offer. Each one is annotated with the principle behind it. Don't copy verbatim — the brand and offer specifics will be different — but the structure and rhythm work across categories.
Template 1: Remittance fintech cold first-touch
Subject: Send 50,000 INR to India for ₹0 fees this month
Body:
Hi [first name],
You probably send money to India regularly. Most NRIs in [country] pay between £4 and £12 in fees on every transfer — that's £50–150 a year that could stay in your family's account instead of the bank's.
[Brand] is offering NRIs from [country] zero-fee transfers up to ₹50,000 per month for the first 90 days. Live exchange rate, no markup.
If that sounds useful: [Sign up in 3 minutes ▶]
Reply STOP and we'll never email you again.
— [Your name], [Brand]
[Sender footer with physical postal address per CAN-SPAM]
Why this works: Specific number in subject. Acknowledges the pain (paying too much) before the offer. Clear, single CTA. Polite opt-out. Personal sender, not no-reply.
Template 2: CA / Tax cold first-touch
Subject: Your India tax filing for FY 2025-26: do you need help?
Body:
Hi [first name],
If you have any India-source income — rental, capital gains, NRO interest, mutual fund distributions — you have an India return to file by 31 July 2026. The FY 2025-26 forms have meaningful changes:
- New residency-status declaration requirement (deemed-residency rules updated)
- DTAA Form 67 must now be filed before the return, not after
- FATCA disclosure thresholds revised for USA NRIs
If you'd like a free 30-minute consultation to scope your filing requirements: [Book a call ▶]
If not, no further emails from us.
— [Your name], [Firm]
Why this works: Demonstrates expertise (specific form changes). Free, low-friction CTA. Establishes the firm as informed without selling.
Template 3: India real-estate launch announcement
Subject: 3 new Bengaluru launches under ₹2 Cr — NRI-only allocations
Body:
Hi [first name],
You've shown interest in India property in the past — three Bengaluru launches we're tracking that fit your budget band:
1. [Project A] — Whitefield
3-BHK from ₹1.45 Cr, possession Q4 2027, NRI allocation: 12 units. RERA: [number]
2. [Project B] — Hebbal
2-BHK from ₹85L, ready possession, NRI allocation: 8 units. RERA: [number]
3. [Project C] — Sarjapur Road
4-BHK villa from ₹3.2 Cr, possession Q2 2027, NRI allocation: 4 units. RERA: [number]
If you'd like a 45-min virtual site visit on any of these, reply with the project name and we'll set it up at a time that works for [city]. We handle the whole journey end-to-end — RERA, NRE/NRO funding, NRI mortgage application, allotment, and registration.
— [Your name], NRI Desk, [Firm]
Why this works: References past behaviour. Specific projects with specific numbers. RERA references signal compliance. Time-zone awareness. Single offer (virtual site visit) low friction.
Template 4: Re-engagement (90 days post first transaction)
Subject: Hi [first name] — quick question about your last transfer
Body:
Hi [first name],
You sent £[amount] to [recipient] on [date]. Just checking in — did everything land smoothly?
If you've got a moment, hit reply with a 1–10 score on the experience. Anything below 7 and we'd genuinely like to know what we can fix.
And if it was a 10, you might know another NRI who'd appreciate the same experience — referral link in the footer if so.
Thanks for being a [Brand] customer.
— [Your name]
Why this works: Personalised with transaction detail. Genuine ask, not survey-as-marketing-disguise. Soft referral mention. No CTA pressure.
Template 5: Major-donor cultivation (NGO)
Subject: The Kerala flood rebuild update — 6 months in
Body:
Hi [first name],
Six months ago you (along with 1,200 other NRI donors) helped fund the Kerala flood rebuild. I wanted to share where we are.
So far we've completed:
- 23 of 40 planned home rebuilds in Wayanad
- 4 of 6 school renovations in Idukki district
- 1 of 2 community health centres (Kuttanad opens in November)
The third community health centre — in Alappuzha — is the project we're closest to needing additional funding for. ₹18L would get it underway.
If you'd like to see the work in person, I'm hosting a small in-person update for major donors in Dubai on 15 November. Reply if you'd like the invite.
— [Your name], [NGO]
Why this works: Specific outcomes from the prior gift, not abstract gratitude. Concrete next-project ask with specific amount. In-person event reciprocity for major-donor cultivation. Personal voice.
What every template includes
- Personalisation hook — specific to the recipient (name, segment, prior behaviour).
- Single primary CTA — not three competing asks.
- Polite opt-out — reply STOP or unsubscribe link in footer.
- Personal sender — not no-reply@.
- Sender footer with brand, business address, and unsubscribe.
Common template mistakes
- Multiple CTAs. Pick one. The rest of the email reinforces it.
- Generic personalisation. "Dear NRI" lands worse than no personalisation at all.
- Long-form when short would work. Cold email cuts at scroll-fatigue. Get to the value in the first 50 words.
- Hidden unsubscribe. Footer unsubscribe is required and good for trust; making it findable lowers complaints.
